Sonia is a collaborator and Research Associate in the Epidemiology Department at Johns Hopkins University. She is interested in developing methods linked to empirical data to understand (1) how immunity and the environment, defined by physical and social forces, shape the risk, burden, and spread of infectious diseases and (2) how these insights can inform practical, scalable public health solutions, like surveillance, diagnostics, and vaccines. Her research interests and experience draw from disciplines across the biological and social sciences, and she works on a variety of pathogens, with a particular focus on emerging and enteric infections.
